EMPOWERING CHANGE, SUSTAINING IMPACT

We are excited to share with you the strides we at The 1872 Clipper Tea Co. are taking to further our commitment to sustainability and enriching the well-being of the community. We believe that business success should be measured not only by profits but also by the positive influence we exert on the world round us.

EMPOWERING COMMUNITIES

At the heart of tea cultivation in Sri Lanka lies the dedication of individuals who greatly contribute to our brand's success. We understand the significance of acquiring our teas ethically from plantations certified by governing bodies such as Fairtrade. This commitment reflects our dedication to sustainable production practices and initiatives aimed at improving the livelihoods of tea-producing communities.

ECO-FRIENDLY CULTIVATION

Building upon our dedication to empowering workers and their families, The 1872 Clipper Tea Co. recognizes the importance of sustainable farming practices in preserving forests and native wildlife. We are actively engaging with tea producers certified by the Rainforest Alliance, aligning with our commitment to supporting climate-friendly cultivation methods that safeguard natural resources and the environment.

CONSUMER TRANSPARENCY

Our focus on delivering high-quality tea products while maintaining exceptional taste aligns seamlessly with our vision, which combines sourcing tea from ethical sources with adopting technology to grade tea leaves. This approach ensures transparency throughout our supply chain and establishes a robust foundation of traceability for the origins of our tea, underscoring our ongoing commitment to quality.

OUR PATH TOWARDS TEA SUSTAINABILITY

The 1872 Clipper Tea Co. is embarking on a transformative journey to redefine our role in the fight against climate change. We are exploring the use of technology, carbon capture, and waste mitigation initiatives to integrate sustainability into our brand.

RESPONSIBLE PACKAGING

The 1872 Clipper Tea Co. is gradually transitioning away from plastics towards more eco-friendly alternatives in both our retail packaging and single-use food ware items. We've already taken the first step by using paper produced in sustainably managed forests, including those certified by the FSC, and incorporating bamboo material in place of traditional wood in our hard box tea products. Additionally, we are actively reducing the amount of materials used in our packaging to align with our dedication to reducing waste in the environment. This includes minimizing the amount of plastic shrink wrapping of our products, thereby reducing the environmental impact.

EMBRACING CLEANER ENERGY

We are committed to implementing cutting-edge practices to power our production facilities sustainably. One significant initiative involves integrating solar-powered technologies, which will harness clean, renewable energy from the sun to improve the sustainability of our operations. Additionally, we are exploring equipment optimized to work more efficiently by consuming less power and producing fewer pollutants. This effort is part of our commitment to a more sustainable and environmentally friendly tea production process.

CARBON CAPTURE

Recognizing the importance of protecting the environment and preserving the biodiversity unique to tea plantations, we are actively engaged in researching carbon capture initiatives. Through specific measures to enable tea crops to absorb carbon dioxide, we aim to reduce the overall carbon output associated with our production process. Additionally, we are exploring the possibility of strategically replanting trees or tea crops to further enhance our carbon capture efforts and contribute positively to the surrounding environment.
